How to Write Better Copy Using PsychologyWant to write copy that truly converts? Here's 7 practical methods you can use right away. These are the exact strategies I use in my own landing page agency and for my clients. #1 Instagram Bio for Killer Headlines Funnily enough, brands often have better copy on their Instagram bio than on their actual website. Here's some great headline examples, in the bio:
Check out your own Instagram bio, you might just have some hidden gems there. If you don’t have a decent bio, check out competitors for inspo. #2 Leverage Customer Reviews Customer reviews are a serious gold mine for copywriting material. Pick out reviews that help alleviate the key objections and concerns new customers would have. For example:
Find headlines and copy ideas directly from what your customers are already saying. This also helps you to learn to write in their language style — using common phrases and terms your customers actually use. We did this recently for one of our client (see example below). The term "dangerously-effective" came straight from a review. This process is powerful. #3 Analyze Your Winning Ads Look at your top-performing ads. Dissect their headlines and body text to see what made them successful. If you have video ads, extract the audio transcript. Analyze the spoken words for powerful copy ideas for your website and landing pages. Boom! #4 You Need A Clear, Concise USP (Unique Selling Point) Your USP should be communicated in a single line. If it takes more than a line, you need to re-write it and think more critically. Examples:
A strong USP hooks your audience and makes them want to learn more. #5 Know Your Demographics Understand your customers' age, gender, and interests. This will help you be more personalized with your messaging. A certain writing style for women over 60 won't work the same for men under 30, for example. #6 Connect with Emotions People make decisions based on emotions, even if they seem rational. Understand the emotions tied to your product and weave these feelings into your copy. Ask yourself:
#7 Keep It Direct and Simple Write as directly as possible. Keep it short and sweet. Always have a clear CTA that tells readers what they should do next. Mindset Tip: Speed + Strength Ask yourself how you can convey your message in the shortest amount of time... With the least amount of text, videos, or images. Why? Because the quicker you can convey you message and capture people's emotions — the more you will convert.
